TOUCH-UP FAILURE
A difference in color and appearance between the original paint and the touch-up spots.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- Poor Technique
- Touching-up with a different batch of paint.
- Touching-up with a different applicator than originally used.
- Touching-up at different temperatures.
- Failure to reduce the touch-up paint by up to 25%.
- Touching-up marks that could have been removed by washing with a sponge and liquid detergent.
SOLUTION:
- Always try to use paint with the same batch number whenever possible.
- Try to clean any marks first with a sponge and liquid detergent.
- Use only enough paint to cover the area, excessive paint may cause a halo.
- Try to use the same type of applicator that was used when the paint was originally applied.
- Use a feathering-in technique, avoid dabbing.
- Thin the paint up to 25% depending on the paint.
